1. Intent

To give our pupils a broad and balanced Religious Education curriculum we follow the locally agreed Pan Berkshire syllabus and guidance from the Oxford diocese. We have developed units of work which draw on the key questions of the syllabus and use materials from a wide variety of resources, such as Understanding Christianity, to deliver high quality and engaging lessons.

The non-statutory 2013 National Curriculum Framework for RE states that pupils should:

 • Know about and understand a range of religions and worldviews

 • Express ideas and insights about the nature, significance and impact of religions and worldviews

 • Gain and deploy the skills needed to engage seriously with religions and worldviews

The curriculum is organised to develop children's knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other principal religions and worldviews held in Britain today. Units of work build skills and knowledge to support children to connect, reflect upon and question their growing understanding of religions and expressions of belief in our communities.
