Scientific enquiry is at the core of science lessons at Shinfield St Mary’s Junior School and will demonstrate our Shinfield Values. Children are engaged and enjoy active learning. They also encourage their peers in group work and make links at all times to the environment in particular.  In addition, children will be developing their meta-cognition skills as they build on their learning from the comments and observations of others, becoming aware of how their thinking and ideas change and develop.

Teachers will assess the impact of learning through informal feedback and through end of unit Rising Star tests. At the end of each unit, Teachers assess each child’s development of investigation skills and also their understanding of the core knowledge in that topic.
