Welcome

Visitors to our school frequently comment on the warm and nurturing feel they experience as soon as they walk through the door. Like me, our children are extremely proud of our school and this is shown in the caring and respectful way they interact with each other and their environment.

The educational experience at Shinfield St Mary’s is transformational. Based on our Christian vision of ‘‘As I have loved you, so you must love one another.’ John 13, 34 we teach far more than will be found in the National Curriculum. With love at the centre, our broad, inclusive and ambitious curriculum offers opportunities for all, while outstanding facilities and an array of community partnerships provide an abundance of extra-curricular activities – we provide a truly holistic education.

We were delighted to join the Agape Multi-Academy Trust on the 2nd February 2026.  Information about the Trust can be found under the 'Our School' heading.

EXTREME HEAT PROTOCOLS

We are due to be experiencing extreme heat over the rest of this week and have implemented the following:

  • Alternative clothing - If you feel your child would be more comfortable in their PE kit or suitable home clothes, they are welcome to wear them. Please ensure they wear closed toe shoes for safety and that clothing is appropriate for school.
  • Early collection option - we are offering an early collection option at 1.30pm for this week only.  Please note we are unable to accommodate collection times throughout the afternoon.  Children who remain in school will be provided with calm, low energy activities.  If your child will be going home alone, please confirm to the school office they have your permission to do this.  No child will be sent home before 3.30pm, without parental permission.

Please could your child come to school with a sun hat, full water bottle and sun-cream on. If they are able to apply sun cream to themselves, in a sensible manner, they are allowed to bring this in their bag for re-application at lunchtime (roll on sun creams are particularly easy to apply) but a good dose of long-lasting Factor 50 in the morning should see them through.  Children should not share sun cream in case of allergies.

Children may bring sunglasses or hand-held fans to school as long as they are able to remain responsible for not losing them!

At the moment we have no plans to close but are monitoring the situation closely.  Decisions taken are in line with DfE, LA and Trust guidance.
