November 2023 - Our Y5/6 girls' footballers are Champions!

Last Friday, the Y5/6 girls' football team completed their FA Autumn group games. Winning 1-0, 2-0 and 4-0 - the only team to be unbeaten in the group stages.

As league winners, they now progress onto the FA Spring Knockout Tournament (a bit like the Wokingham Champions League!).

They have been unstoppable this year and we could not be prouder of all their success!

Congratulations to Amber, Katie, Kate, Chelin, Jess, Emma, Yara, Ediee and Evie.

November 2023 - Year 5/6 Girls Netball 'School Games' Tournament

This week was the turn of our netball girls to head off for a competition! We were invited along to compete in a School Games Wokingham tournament and our girls were very excited. As well as practising at netball club, they had been giving up their play times to train with Mrs Delgado this week. For the tournament, the children had to play a 5-a-side rotation where they played a different position each match. The girls played unbelievably well showing fantastic teamwork, defending and passing, as well as respect for the other teams. The results were as follows:

Match 1 - 0-0 draw

Match 2 - 3-1 to Shinfield

Match 3 - 7-0 to Shinfield

Match 4 - 1 -0 to Shinfield

With such brilliant performances in all of our matches, we have made it through to the finals at The Holt School!

What superstars you are! Well done to Hope, Evie, Melody, Chelin, Jess, Daisy and Kate!

November 2023 - Y5/6 Girls' FA Football Tournament

We are so proud of our Y5/6 girls football team, who represented us brilliantly in the Wokingham FA football tournament. The girls stormed through to the quarter finals as winners of their group and didn't let in a goal for the whole of qualifying, winning 5 matches and drawing three.

In the quarter finals, the girls were seconds away from winning, before a last-second equalizer sent the game to penalties. The team were amazing, and bravely won the shoot-out to make the semi-final.

In the semi-final, the team drew 2-2 in a very competitive match, sending them to penalties once more. Here the shoot-out was so close that every team member had to take a spot kick - some had never done it before! We were so proud of the girls, as they narrowly missed out on the final - following 8 penalties for each team (usually only 3)!

The team that won the penalty shoot-out went on to win the competition themselves - so we know our team was so unlucky on the day not to make it to the final. Having played so well all day - they earnt an impressive 3rd place in the tournament and really made the whole school proud. They were only beaten on penalties, which is always a roll of the dice - other than that, they were technically undefeated in 'normal' time and only let in 3 goals in the entire tournament.

Thank you for being superstars and representing us so well - we couldn't be prouder of the team: Amber, Katie, Kate, Chelin, Jess, Emma, Yara, Ediee and Evie.

October 2023: Year 6 Football Team - FA Tournament Winners!

We had our first competitive event of the year, an FA football tournament with 22 schools involved. The level of competition was fierce and the organisers praised all the children for their skills and respectful attitudes throughout the day.

The Shinfield team played brilliantly together showing such teamwork and positivity all day.

We are so proud of the team!

All of the players captained the team for at least one match and made us all proud with their teamwork and support of each other - the trophy is an added bonus!

The trophy will be on display in reception for the rest of the year, hopefully we can get it some company over the year!

There will be a FA Girls' Football Tournament this month - as well as FA league matches for both Boys, Girls and mixed teams.
