Our School

Visitors to our school frequently comment on the warm and nurturing feel they experience as soon as they walk through the door. Like me, our children are extremely proud of our school and this is shown in the caring and respectful way they interact with each other and their environment.

The educational experience at Shinfield St Mary’s is transformational. Based on our Christian vision of ‘‘As I have loved you, so you must love one another.’ John 13, 34 we teach far more than will be found in the National Curriculum. With love at the centre, our broad, inclusive and ambitious curriculum offers opportunities for all, while outstanding facilities and an array of community partnerships provide an abundance of extra-curricular activities – we provide a truly holistic education

Despite our relatively recent growth, we have retained a village school feel. Every child is an important member of the school and relationships within our school are strong and every adult and child is made to feel valued and loved. In all we do, we make sure we respect the views, beliefs and cultures of everyone in our multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multi-faith, inclusive ethos.

We have a strong focus on caring for the world; in our bio-dome and raised beds, we grow food for the homeless. As part of our global responsibility we have established close links with a school in Southern India. Both organisations are focused on improving the environment and on learning from each other about the best ways in which to do this.

We would love to show you around our school and I would encourage you to read both our OFSTED report from 2018, and our SIAMS report, from September 2019.

Best wishes,

Philippa Chan
